Amanda Brugel
(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal known as the West Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term tend to think there is a separate island west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to everything from the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay was not long in the city. Brugel grew to be a young woman in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. At the beginning of her life she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Brugel was one of many former dancers who turned into acting. Her teacher from high school was what pushed her in the right direction. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in the school's annual show. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the main character for Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Her career spans 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was that of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian on the Season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
